Credit Repair Factors, Part 2

The most obvious ways that your credit history is affected are if you make a late payment, if you write a bad check, overdraw your account, bankruptcy, repossession, suit, foreclosure, and more. Late payments vary on the company or creditor. Sometimes, they will let you slide if your payment is only thirty days late or less. However, it's best not to play this way. Instead of trying to play around the rules, play by them.
Another technicality to mention is that many people think that by voluntarily having their car or other item repossessed, it is better than if the company repossesses it on their own. Not really in credit repair terms. Although, it might be very kind of you to admit that you cannot pay your car loan, and you decide to give your car up in good will, it still affects your credit report negatively, whether you want to believe it or not.

Also, bankruptcies are one of the worst things you can do to your credit history. They are telling creditors that you can't handle your money, that you overestimated your repayment abilities and that you ultimately failed. A creditor will not loan you money to handle if you can't even handle your own money. Whatever you do, avoid getting yourself into bankruptcy!
